St. Catherine and Colored Canyon tour Starts when our agent picks you up from your accommodation early in the morning to explore Sinai by Jeep. We’ll drive to Saint Catherine monastery in the Sinai Peninsula at 1570 meters, where Moses witnessed the burning bush that didn’t burn. It’s near Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments. The monastery dates to Justinian’s time. The monastery was named Saint Catherine in the 11th century commemorating one of the earliest Alexandria Christian martyrs.
The pathway leading to one of Sinai’s geological wonders, the colored canyon, begins 65 km north of St. Catherine. Its 40-meter-high, 1-meter-wide walls are built of sandstone that ranges from dark brown to red to straw yellow due to magnesium and iron oxides. After lunch, we go down Dahab Street, Mashyia. Then you’ll return to your hotel.
