The Gayer Anderson Museum (1): The name is a foreigner for an English doctor. He agreed with the Committee for the Preservation of Arab Antiquities to stay in the house to preserve the place and leave the antiques he bought from Cairo markets upon his departure from Egypt.
The house brings you to the atmosphere of the old Cairo houses..a water fountain in the middle of the main hall..cushions and carpets in oriental colours.. interior mashrabiyas with windows through which women watch what goes on on the ground floor and none of the visitors sees them .. wooden furniture inlaid with ivory and seashell .. beautiful mashrabiyas On the roof of the house you can see the ancient mosques surrounding the house, such as the Ahmed Ibn Tulun Mosque and the school of Sarghatmish … You will enjoy the tour inside the house because you will feel that you have moved to a beautiful old time.
