King Huni is the last king of the Third Dynasty.
And it ruled for about 24 years, and the pyramid of Meidum is considered the most important building at all in the process of development of the royal tomb in the Old Kingdom, which was first built in the form of an amphitheatre and then modified later to become the first true pyramid. Some believe that it is possible that he was the one who started the pyramid of Meidum, except that he died before completing it, so King Senefru, the first king of the fourth family, completed it for him.
Recent archaeological evidence confirmed that the pyramid of Meidum and the city next to it was called (Grandfather of Senefru).
Add to that the finding of marks left by workers on the blocks from which the pyramid was built, including pictures of a pyramid consisting of two or three and four degrees, which made some researchers believe in the end that the matter is related to the basic shape of the pyramid, which is gradually modified.
– Its architectural design is considered a transition stage between the listed pyramid and the real pyramid, which appeared in the fourth family era. Then the Meidum pyramid represents the final stage in the step pyramid, and it is almost certain that it precedes the pyramids of Senefru directly.
In any case, the pyramid of Meidum was built in an amphitheatre and was later modified to become the first true pyramid.
The building was constructed in several stages:
First, build a step pyramid consisting of seven steps, then an eighth degree was added to it. Scientists have uncovered a part of the cladding of the oldest stage of the pyramid, especially after the partial destruction caused to it, which made it easier to understand its internal architecture and the date of its construction.
The graduated pyramid was converted in the final stage after enlarging it to a real pyramid shape and stones to fill in the grades.
The area of the base of the pyramid became 20,880 square meters, which is more than the area of the base of the pyramid by about a third, and its height is 67 meters.
It is clear that the pyramid of Meidum was not used for the burial, and the burial chamber was never completed.
– The pyramid of Meidum was surrounded by a thick wall, the outer surface devoid of complaints, and included its funerary temple, which was changed from the northern to the eastern side of the pyramid.
Which reflects the increasing importance of solar worship.
This temple consists of one roofed room, followed by an open courtyard, in which there are two limestone panels, but they have not been engraved.
Visitors to the temple during the New Kingdom believed that the pyramid of Meidum belonged to King Senefru, founder of the Fourth Dynasty, and left many scribbles on its walls.
Some scholars believe this king built a fortress on Elephantine Island and a pyramid in the Zazia-Arian region.
