Our Treasures – Abroad
The American Harvard University excavation mission found the statues of Bao, his wife Barrow and his children in 1907 in Saqqara, which dates back to the era of the Old Kingdom, the Fifth Dynasty, around 2450 BC.
The statues are made of coloured limestone and are still preserved in all their colours. He sits on a chair and sees Bao wearing a curly wig, a wide necklace, and a short kilt.
As for Barrow, we find her left hand on the knee and her other hand on her husband’s waist, and she is wearing a full wig, a wide necklace, and a little white dress, and the seat is coloured.
They are kept in the Boston Museum.
