The ancient Egyptians established the first university in the history of mankind, which had the greatest merit in graduating Greek scholars, including Plato, who spent 13 years studying at Heliopolis University.
The University of On or Heliopolis, as the Greeks called it, was established in 2240 BC. What remains of its effects until now is the archaeological site of Ain Shams in Al-Matariyah. It contains a red granite obelisk, one of the two obelisks established by King Senusret I, the second king of the twelfth dynasty.
