King Khufu, the owner of the great pyramid of Giza
When we hear about a statue of King Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid of the famous pyramids of Giza, we think that it is a large statue and enjoys luxury, but the exact opposite is true.
Statue of King Khufu
It is inconceivable that the one who built the Great Pyramid was not found on any statue except this small statue. This is because, during the reign of King Khufu, the construction of statues was prohibited because he believed that this is not necessary. Still, he authorized the work of alternative heads (the heads of people from stone. The jerry is placed with the deceased in the burial room so that the gods in the other world can recognize him.) Thus, this statue was not made during the reign of King Khufu in the Fourth Dynasty but was carved in the era of the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty, i.e. decades later.
This statue of the scientist “Petri” was found in the Khenti Imento temple in Abydos in Sohag governorate in 1903. Upon its disclosure, it was known that it belonged to King Khufu through the king’s name inscribed on the right side of the seat, but it was found without a head. Workers may sift desert sand for more than 15 days unless they find the statue’s head.
The statue was made of ivory (elephant tusk) and reached a height of 7.5 cm. It represents the king sitting on a seat with support and wears a kilt, and the red crown (the crown of Lower Egypt) and his right hand is clamped on his chest, holding it with a flap or a whip (a symbol of strength) and extending his left hand on the foot, And there is a slight smile on his face.
