The structure was built at the close of the fourth century AD as a tribute to Emperor Diocletian. It was previously part of the Serapeum, a beautiful temple that stood beside the Soma and the Caesarean. Then, we’ll head to the Catacombs, the largest Roman Cemetery, and a three-tiered underground tunnel system. After refueling at a local Alexandrian restaurant, we’ll visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Qaitbay Citadel, constructed on the site of ancient pharaohs (a lighthouse) in the city.
