Welcome to our tour of Philae Temple, High Dam, and the Unfinished Obelisk. Our first stop is Philae Temple, located on an island in the Nile River. This beautiful temple complex was built during the Ptolemaic era and was dedicated to the goddess Isis. As we explore the temple, we’ll see stunning carvings and reliefs depicting ancient Egyptian gods and pharaohs. The temple was relocated to its current location on Agilkia Island after the construction of the High Dam threatened to submerge it.

Next, we’ll head to the High Dam, a modern marvel of engineering that was built in the 1960s to control the flooding of the Nile River. This dam is an impressive feat of engineering and provides power to much of Egypt. From the top of the dam, we’ll enjoy a stunning view of Lake Nasser, a large reservoir created by the dam’s construction.

After visiting the High Dam, we’ll make our way to the Unfinished Obelisk, located in a quarry near Aswan. This massive obelisk was never completed, but it provides a fascinating glimpse into the ancient Egyptian process of quarrying and shaping stone. It’s believed that the obelisk would have been the largest ever erected, had it been completed. We’ll learn about the tools and techniques used by ancient Egyptians to extract and shape stone, and marvel at the sheer size of the obelisk.
