Egypt Magic [1550]
Medicine and doctors in ancient Egypt:
In ancient Egypt, there were three classes of physicians:
The “woo”:
They are priests, doctors who practice their profession in the royal palace
They rely on the spells often associated with the cult of Sekhmet
They are treating the noble class along with the pharaoh or the king himself.
And they depend on their healing methods on religious rituals
As well as on the written sacred medical texts.
The ability of the priest or priest physician to treat is derived from the gods themselves.
The Sono:
General doctors from the people also called “barefoot doctors.”
They derive their practice of medicine from written medical texts (papyri).
They also depend on the daily practice of medicine.
The “Saw”:
They are the doctors who consider disciples of the Scorpio Goddesses “stole.”
And they rely more on practising spells.
And giving amulets and fighting the invisible powers
(Feminine and masculine demons …..)
They also treat vague pain that has no apparent reason
As well as snake bites.
Noting that ancient Egyptian medicine depends mainly on specialization
This did not deny the existence of internal medicine and multi-speciality doctors
And that is according to what we read on some of the temple murals.
