Egypt Magic [1533]
The ancient Egyptian wine factory
Scenes of the grape gathering are depicted in many tombs
And squeezed, filtered, fermented, and packaged since the Old Kingdom
The picture is of a view from the Nakht tomb in western Luxor
Five people portrayed by the artist with a different skin tone
Even their number can be distinguished
They squeeze grapes by feet
Tied by ropes to keep their balance
Ropes fastened to the wooden pallet
Installed on two columns in the form of papyrus sticks
On the right is a person collecting juice to fill it
In the jars pictured above
And in the tomb of Tutankhamun found 24 vessels of wine
Written on it the date of production, the name, and location of the press
Even the name of the person supervising it
As if it is the card that we find in our time
Affixed to drinks bottles
On other cards, the quality of the flora is described
By “Neffer” or “Neffer Neffer” or “Neffer Neffer Nefer”, Neffer means beautiful or good
Or describe the wine as sweet or original wine
And it was imported from other countries in search of a different and new taste
These countries, in turn, were also importers of Egyptian wine
Texts from the Roman era described it as quality and special
Wines of all kinds have always been on offer lists in temples and tombs
And in the oldest Egyptian texts, which are the body of the pyramids
He mentioned that wine is the water of the god Ra
And the name of the god “Shismo”, the deity of the contemporary, is associated with wine and perfumes.
The wine was associated with the goddess “Rennaut”, the goddess of the harvest, and the goddess Osir
14th century BC.
