The Egyptian archaeological mission headed by Sayed Malek Abdel Hamid, chief inspector of Malawi antiquities, revealed a small-sized queen statue in the shape of the Sphinx during the archaeological survey work in the Kom al-Luli area, Tuna al-Jabal cemetery in Minya.
Gamal Al-Sumastawy, Director of Central Egypt Antiquities, explained that the statue is made of limestone, with a base height of 35 cm and a height of 55 cm, with clear and beautiful facial features and details, reflecting the skill of the ancient Egyptian artist. The mission also found groups of amulets made of blue faience For the idol “Bas”, austraak of pottery, pottery vessels of different shapes and sizes, and a bottle of alabaster.
Surveying and archaeological excavations will continue to find out the reason for the presence of this statue in this archaeological area full of secrets, as, during the past three years, the Tuna Al-Jabal area was found on a valley of mummies. Many tombs and burial wells, which included many stone and wooden sarcophagi, were found inside. Their mummies are in good condition.
