Blue and amulets ward off envy.
The blue bead, or the blue eye used to ward off the forces of envy, is not a new thing. Rather, it goes back to the oldest ages and the rise of civilizations on earth; As it is associated with the “eye of Horus”, I have the ancient Egyptian belief, and it is the first embodiment of this amulet and cultural heritage for us, as it is linked to the legend of the war of good and evil between the god “Horus” and the god “Set”, the God of evil. During their war, the eye of Horus fell, but it was replaced With a stronger eye; Horus defeated and eliminated Set and used the blue colour as it referred to the sky and the god “Horus”, the God of the sky. The blue eye of Horus is a necklace symbolizing the royal power derived from God. That Horus represented a falcon, and its look is three times stronger than the human view, so its symbolism can protect it.
In Mesopotamia, the blue colour was sanctified because they believed it was a precious stone surrounded by divine secrets that humans had no access to.
As for the Ottomans, the idea of using the blue bead or one eye to prevent envy differed from the ancient Egyptians; Where the idea they had in using it was philosophical, unlike the religious idea of the ancient Egyptians, and their idea is that the one eye and the blue colour work to distract the envious and thus distract the focus of the envious eye and get rid of its bad influence, and we find that in 2014 AD Turkey was able to include the blue bead culture in the list The Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
The idea of this blue eye was transmitted to the West through tourist trips and gifts, and it has moved from country to country, and its spread is increasing.
During the reign of the Romans, Ptolemy XIII developed a theory that the eye emits rays to make it see what surrounds it. The Arab scholar Ibn Al-Haytham came to this theory wrong and said that the thing seen is the one that emits rays. Therefore, the eye can see it. The blue colour in psychology can attract attention from before you, distract it, and withdraw the negative energy resulting from envy, thus nullifying the forces of envy for the eye looking at you or anything.
In a prophetic hadith, the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, recommended to those affected by envy to eat seven dates in the morning and recite Ayat al-Kursi. From being envious again.
