There are also older ones, the Pyramid of Lahon, the Pyramid of Meidum, the Pyramid of Unas, the Red Pyramid, the Black Pyramid, the Pyramids of Abusir, the Pyramid of Sneferu and the Pyramid of Saqqara. Do I need to tell you about something that is said that there are more than 100 pyramids in Egypt?
Today I will briefly talk to you about some of the pyramids in Egypt, which many of us do not know anything about.
∆Of course, we must start with the foot and first pyramid in history, which is the pyramid of Djoser
∆ Pyramid of Djoser
It is called more than one name, like the pyramid of Djoser, Saqqara, or the amphitheatre.
Zoser is the second king of the third royal family
His era was distinguished by a lot of construction works, which is why historians differed about the period of his rule
The Minister of Djoser was the main engineer responsible for constructing the pyramid, and this was the first pyramid and the oldest pyramid in existence today.
We are going to the most famous of the three pyramids in Egypt, which are the pyramids of Giza, and we will first talk about the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khufu
∆Pyramid of Khufu
It was built by King Khufu, the second king of the Fourth Dynasty
It was built in 2500 BC
It is said that he continued to build it for about 20 years
Its original height is 146 meters
But it is now 138 meters high
This is due to the factors influencing why
The entrance to the Great Pyramid rises 17 meters above the ground and leads to a corridor going down to the king’s burial chamber.
∆Pyramid of Khafre
It was built by King Khafre, the fourth king of the Fourth Dynasty, the son of King Khufu, and his reign was 26 years. It is the second pyramid of the well-known Giza pyramids. It is lower than his father’s pyramid, “Khufu”, with a height of 136 meters.
∆Pyramid of Menkaure
The pyramid of Menkaure, or Menkaure, like Mabegolo, is the third pyramid of Giza built by King Menkaure, son of King Khafre and grandson of King Khufu, the height of the pyramid is 65.5 meters. And next to the pyramid, from the south direction, there are three small pyramids, of course, you don’t know anything about it, and many of us do not even notice it, but in fact, they are dedicated to the queens of the sons and wives of King Menkaure.
Let’s go to the three pyramids built by King Sneferu, founder of the Fourth Dynasty
Which are the red pyramid, the pyramid of Meidum, and the bent pyramid of Sneferu
∆ red pyramid
Its height is 104 meters, the centre is the third in terms of height after the pyramid of Khufu and Khafre, which is located in Dahshur, and its name is called red because of the red layer above its stones. The red pyramid at the time of its construction was the highest stone building in the world. The locals call it the bat pyramid.
∆The Bent Pyramid of Sneferu
, It was called the leaning pyramid because it started building the pyramid to go up at an angle of 58 degrees. When the pyramid’s construction reached about half its height, it was decided to build the upper part at an angle of 43 degrees.
∆Pyramid of Meidum
Three terraces appear from it, and it was the fifth-largest pyramid in Egypt when it was built.
And almost this pyramid was not intended to be a tomb for Sneferu but was a false pyramid
The Meidum pyramid is distinguished by the shape of the heart of the pyramid, which appears as a high platform surrounded by sand and rubble. From all directions
∆Pyramid of Unas
It is located in the area of the pyramids of Saqqara, which is the pyramid built by King Unas, the last king of the Fifth Dynasty, and the texts covering the walls of the burial chambers inside the pyramid were the first discovery of the texts of the pyramids. In the same burial chamber, mummy remains were found, including the skull, right arm and leg. But it is not known whether these remains belong to Unas or not.
∆Black Pyramid
King Amenemhat III built the Black Pyramid. It is one of the five remaining pyramids of the original ten pyramids in Dahshur in Egypt, originally named Amenemhat the Mighty. The pyramid got the name of the Black Pyramid of Darkness.
∆Abu Sir pyramids
The archaeological area of Abu Sir is located south of Giza, Giza and north of Saqqara, and the name Abu Sir is derived from the ancient Egyptian name “Bar Osiris”, which means the seat of the god Osiris. South of Giza and north of Fayoum on the west bank of the Nile, the kings of the Fifth Dynasty chose this area because the Giza plateau was crowded with the giant pyramids built by the kings of the Fourth Dynasty.
∆ Pyramid of Lahoun
It is one of the pyramids of Egypt, built by King Senusret II of Dynasty 12, of mud bricks over a high hill 12 meters high on the outskirts of the city of Lahoun in Fayoum Governorate, and its height is 48 meters, and the length of its base is 106 meters. The golden cobra, which was placed above the royal crown, was discovered next to the pyramid. 8 terraces were tombs for members of the royal family in the pyramid area.
